Upgrading a System with External Storage from Release 7.3.4 to 7.4.x

Caution: The Qualify procedure will not allow an upgrade from everRun Release 7.3.4 to 7.4.0 on a system with external storage. You must call your Stratus service representative to enable the upgrade.

Upgrading from everRun Release 7.3.4 to Release 7.4.x on a system with external storage requires additional steps before and after the software upgrade. For instance, before you begin the upgrade, you must first shutdown all VMs and delete all deployed VCDs. In addition, the upgrade includes updating initrd as well as modifying the multipath.conf and lvm.conf files for systems with Fibre Channel or iSCSI external storage. The upgrade for systems with iSCSI external storage also includes stopping and restarting the everrun-sim service, remapping LUNs, and using iscsiadmin for various tasks.

For the latest technical information, contact your Stratus service representative and refer to KB-4273.
