Replacing a Failed Physical Machine Connected to External Storage

You can replace a failed physical machine (PM) that is connected to external storage while the system is running. You begin by unmapping and deleting all LUNs on the external storage array that are mapped to the failed PM. After the failed PM is replaced, you need to update the lvm.conf file, configure multipath, create new LUNs on the external storage systems, scan for new LUNs, configure initrd for multipath, and then place the LUNs in the proper storage group(s).
